Found my old itch.io just so I could comment! Love the concept and the world building you've got going on. I must say that I liked it when the supposed 'author' of the book adds a personal anectodes i.e recalling how someone killed an adversary. I think without some personal touches like those, it'd just seem like an info dump but with those little additions it adds life and maybe even allow yourself to imagine what kind of person would be able to survive and chose to stay in Yerrick; assuming they could even leave

Would also love to see the devils part get expanded on if you make a sequel, like maybe an anecdote of an encounter with one and what a specific adversary reacted like to it. Them being described as just 'friendly, silly fellows' does make me wonder if there are more to them and that's just what the author thinks, that there's something more that lies underneath. I have a few theories but I wouldn't want to spoil the fun as filling in the blanks yourself as the reader is more fulfilling.

Thank ya so much for going through all the trouble to comment! I'm glad that Helstalt resonated with ya that much =w=
Lel very happy to hear the more personal anecdotes had a positive spin onto the text! Lel writing the zine was def an effort in trying to write something that I would find interesting to read. Too many long dry blocks of texts with small fonts ends up being a chore/pain (literally sometimes) for me to read TwT.

Hmm yeah I'd be down to further expand on devils at least that much. The sequel zine I'm making is going to expand on Yerrick and it's inhabitants. Got at least one area I can have them show up for a bit.

To hear that you have theories on this is honestly mindblowing. I never thought anything I would make, would have people get invested enough to have em. But lel fair if ya don't want to share for reasons you listed~.

I love not knowing the full picture on things in regards to settings like this. Demon's souls is a big fave for that. I can't remember if it had any or minimal compared to future games, but item descriptions were alot less clairvoyant flavor text and much more just plain descriptions from the player's view. And most lore stuff came from talking to NPCs and experiencing the world. That might've unconsciously affected how I wrote this zine lel.

Absolutely adore this and would love to run a devil infested cityscape using this as basis

Thank ya so much! And wonderful to hear~!
Was thinking of further expanding setting a bit as well as making a few more damned and demons in a sequel zine.
Curious to hear if there's anything that would like to be seen in a sequel?

I think another cool stand alone-ish one that could then be combined with this would be something like "Landmarks of Yerrick".
Something like couple of notable locations in the city and how they differ during the long night to how they usually are, that would probably cover most everything one would need to have their own version of Yerrick in a game.

Ahh thank ya for feedback~

I was originally planning on sequel to have a city map with some neighborhoods and landmarks specified. But was also thinking of shoving in some NPCs and more adversaries. Altho having all that would make it much bigger than Helstalt (about double in pages).

So I'll cut back and take your feedback. Just stick to fleshing out the various locations. Perhaps try throw in a few NPCs as well if I got room.
